Real Wedding
Phoebe and James married at Barnsley Civic in South Yorkshire in May 2026. They booked a ceremony only package to complement their intimate wedding.
It was my first time photographing a wedding at The Civic. Whilst I had worked here previously at numerous events, it was great to see the space set up for a wedding.
Guests were able to explore the downstairs areas before making their way upstairs to the ceremony room. The team coordinated Phoebe’s arrival ensuring the guests did not see her arrive. Unfortunately a van had parked in the parking space and so we had to run around to the back of the building
The large open space is perfect for adding your own personalised touches and can really be tailored to your own theme. I loved the bunting, books and colours which Phoebe and James had chosen and you could really tell they had made it their own.
The ceremony felt incredibly intimate but yet had plenty of space to allow me as a photographer to move around and get plenty of different angles for photos.
Following the ceremony we headed downstairs to the ornate floor for confetti. There is not space outside to do this but the beautiful ornate tiles made for such a beautiful space to do this in
We were incredibly fortunate that their were no other events happening at the Civic meaning we could use the balcony. It is one of my favourite view points of the town as you can see the town hall in the background. Following group photos here we made our way into Barnsley for a few more couple photos before finishing with some photos at a local book store. I absolutely loved this wedding Phoebe and James really did everything their way and what a brilliant way to do things!
